About
Introducing Myung Ga Haejangguk, a hidden gem in the heart of Arcadia, CA. This cozy Korean soup spot offers a variety of comforting and hearty dishes that will satisfy your cravings.
As a food reviewer of Foodjoyy, I had the pleasure of trying out their famous bossam, sullangtang, gamja tang, and soondae. Each dish was packed with authentic flavors and generous portions that left me feeling truly satisfied.
The bossam is a must-try, with tender sliced pork that pairs perfectly with the wraps and flavorful sides. The sullangtang's rich broth and tender beef noodles were incredibly satisfying, while the gamja tang packed a spicy kick that warmed me up from the inside out.
One standout for me was the soondae, with its earthy and authentic flavor that truly captured the essence of Korean cuisine. The attention to detail in the seasoning and presentation of each dish was evident, showcasing the skill and dedication of the chefs at Myung Ga Haejangguk.
While the ambiance may be a bit lacking and the wait times during peak hours can stretch a bit, the food more than makes up for it. The attentive service and generous portions make this spot perfect for a comforting meal with friends or family.
If you're a fan of Korean soups and classic dishes, Myung Ga Haejangguk is the place to be. Come hungry and leave satisfied, with a newfound appreciation for the flavors and hospitality of this hidden gem.
“ YUM. I love bossam and this is a great place to get it. We split the smallest size between two people and ended up with about half of the portion leftover to take home. Their kimchi was my favorite side dish but they were all great. The combo of the bossam, napa, raw garlic, and samjjang is perfect! We were seated right away on a Saturday night in a clean restaurant and the staff was friendly. No complaints! ”
“ For a Saturday night we were actually surprised at how fast the wait went by! The food was so so so good, very family friendly atmosphere too. We got the bossam and it was so different from other places, it was slightly sweeter and all of the side dishes had so much more depth of flavor than usual! They also give you so much garlic and peppers! Amazing presentation too. Wish they served alcohol but still a wonderful experience. ”
“ The service was great! Also the Korean food was good (although I don't know how it compares to super authentic food, but it felt like it was). I had the pork gukbap, which had a lot of pork (but not a lot of noodle). The flavor was light, but from what I've read, that's how the dish is. I wasn't a big fan of the blood sausage, but I believe that's my personal preference, so take that with a grain of salt. All in all, I would come back for the gukbap! ”
“ If you're craving comforting Korean soups and classic dishes, Myung Ga Haejangguk is the place to be! We tried the sullangtang, gamja tang, bossam, and soondae, and everything was solid across the board. Sullangtang: Milky, rich broth with just the right level of seasoning (you can adjust it yourself, which is a nice touch). Perfectly tender beef and noodles made it super satisfying. Gamja Tang: Hearty and packed with flavor. The pork fell off the bone, and the broth had that perfect spicy kick. Bossam: The sliced pork was tender, and pairing it with the wraps and sides was a flavor explosion. Soondae: Generous portions, with that authentic earthy flavor you'd expect from good soondae. The portions here are huge, so come hungry or be ready to take leftovers home. The servers were attentive and kept the cabbage and side dishes refilled without us even asking--a major plus. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5? The ambiance could use a bit of a refresh, and the wait time during peak hours can stretch a little. But honestly, the food makes up for it. If you're looking for comforting, homey Korean food with big portions, this spot delivers! ”
“ Solid spots for soups and bossam. I noticed everyone also ordered the tonkatsu which was ginormous! Will definitely try that next time. ”
“ Another one of the best (1/2) only good authentic Korean spots for good ass Korean food in the 626. Always treated good service by the ladies there. There are a lot of sleeper items there so far here's my favorite 1. Oxtail soup 2. Soondae guk 3. Donkatsu 4. Seollungtang 6. Galbitang My partners favorite is their pork gukbap because he likes how the broth is prepared differently than traditional jinsols gukbap. To be honest I find their yukgaejang and gamjatang very lacking. But that's why I recommend the ones that I posted. They do serve you the traditional barley tea water which is always a plus. Their kimchi and ggakdugi is always on point. And u know we tired of restaurants mid fish cake banchan but I will be eating theirs here it's prepared very light and delicious. Myung ga is a genuine matjjib in the 626 with young dong ”
“ I'm so glad this place exists in 626 and I don't have to go all the way to ktown for authentic Korean food!! The bossam is really good and was able to feed 8 people. We all got soups on the side to share but the plate is huge! I HIGHLYY recommend the tukbaegi if you like sukiyaki and a sweeter broth. Comes with a lot of meat in it, good for 2 ppl I would say. The sides and bonchon are all super fresh too. ”
“ It was around 4pm Saturday and we were craving Korean nearby and this place was close by and new to me. We parked in and entered through the back, plenty of parking spots given the banks were all closed. There are seating tables in the back patio as well, however we chose to sit near the windows in the front. Plenty of seating and not busy since it's too early for dinner and late for lunch. The place specializes in soup, however, given we just came back from and outdoor pumpkin patch, we decided to order bossam. In addition, my toddler got really fussy since he was hungry from all the play at the pumpkin patch, the staff was very generous and patient to help with a side dish and rice to calm him down while we order. They also provided water and tea jugs. The bossam looked amazing, plenty of side dishes and pork belly. The radishes were especially delicious with the pork and cabbage. Radishes were not too spicy but still had a nice kick. The pork was tender and fatty, my toddler ate quite a few pieces. We ate everything except the chilies and kimchi (we were too full to eat all the kimchi). Overall it was great, we spent roughly 50$ among the two adult and a toddler, plus tip. I'd probably try other dishes next time. Restrooms are gendered and for one person at a time. ”
“ I had bookmarked this spot for ages and never got to try it until today. The restaurant wasn't huge, but it was able to accommodate our large party. They had a shared private lot behind the business and a few spots right infront as well. We were warmly greeted and presented with several side dishes immediately. The sides were fresh and well seasoned, but the kimchi was too garlicky for my personal tastes. We ordered a soup and katsu to try, and both were really good! Yukgaejang: I loved that the soup wasn't just a large bowl of spiciness, despite the looks. You could really taste the flavors of the veggies in the dish. I loved the contrast of the shredded beef with the enoki and bean sprouts. I did add a little more salt to the soup, but otherwise it was delicious! Portion was huge too. Pork cutlet: the cutlet was super crispy, and the sauce it came with was slightly sweetened. My kids loved this dish, and the portion was large too. Overall, we had a great dinner here tonight. All my friends enjoyed their dishes as well. The service was very friendly and helpful. They would notice that we needed something and would bring it over and ask if we would like it. We will definitely be coming back! ”
